The Cathedral

Its first stone was laid in 1725. It has an adjoining chapel dating from 1960 dedicated to the Virgin of the Rosary and inside it lies the image of the Christ of Mapimí, which was in the first temple that existed in the city. Travelers and experts agree that our Cathedral is among the best examples of baroque in northern Mexico.

The dimensions of the Plaza de Armas, and the recent works to recover spaces in the historic centre, give it the opportunity to show the grandeur of its perfect twin towers and its golden ochre quarry.
