Government Palace

The Government Palace is a beautiful architectural work designed by the 19th century engineer Pedro Ignacio Irigoyen and inaugurated in 1892.

In the central courtyard is the Altar to the Fatherland, the exact place where the Father of the Nation Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla was shot. It has the Museum of Independence and the gallery of weapons from that time. It also has murals by the renowned artist Aaron Piña Mora, which describe the history of Chihuahua from the conquest to the revolution. On the second floor there is another mural with themes of the economic activities of the region.
