The first antecedents of the current Municipal Palace date back to 1720, when the authorities of San Felipe el Real de Chihuahua undertook the task of constructing a building that would be the headquarters of the Town Hall. Its inauguration was on October 4, 1907 and was carried out by the Constitutional Government of Enrique Creel.
Of the original building, only memories remain due to the countless modifications it has undergone over the centuries. The architect Julio Corredor was in charge of the current design. The central balconies are the most prominent feature. The large Chapter House, now the Council Room, still preserves its original plasterwork and other characteristic details of the style that prevailed in the so-called “Bella Época”.
