Casa Juarez Museum

It is a large, well-preserved adobe farm with desert architecture that was donated to the town of Rosales by descendants of the Sáenz family.

On October 10, 1864, the President of the Republic, Benito Juárez, spent the night in the town of Rosales, on his way to the city of Chihuahua. He granted Rosales the privilege of being the capital of the Republic for one day. At night, they offered him a party and Don Benito, who was very cheerful, wanted to go out and dance as soon as the musicians started playing, but his companions did not give him time. So he danced that happy polka, which he liked so much, until the second melody and asked the musicians for it again and again. It was “Las Escobitas” (The Escobitas). People say that, being in the capital of the State, as he did not remember the name of the polka, he asked them to play the second one that they played in Rosales.

Since then, this polka has been called “La segunda de Rosales” in honor of Don Benito Juárez.

Today this mansion has been converted into a museum that houses period furniture and a collection of photographs from the Benemérito de las Américas.
