Basaseachi waterfall

Basaseachi is a National Park with a protected area of 625.5 hectares. Within the area lies the Barranca de la Candameña, also known as the Barranca de las Cascadas; one of the most charming in the region.

The park area is covered by pine-oak forest, with landscapes of peculiar attraction, as the wooded terrain alternates with ravines and streams, creating an unforgettable view.

Basaseachi waterfall is the highest in Mexico. Access to the bottom is via a steep trail of approximately 2 kilometers, following the route of the La Ventana viewpoint, from where you can get an excellent panoramic view. It is extremely important not to venture along these trails without proper preparation, since the climb is very difficult and requires excellent physical condition. However, the viewpoints of Rancho San Lorenzo, which are accessed via “Las Estrellas”, offer you –without any physical effort- the most spectacular views of the canyon and the waterfall.
