Ciudad Cuauhtémoc originated near Cusihuiriachi, grew significantly with the arrival of the railroad and the settlement of Mennonite communities, and has since become the region's epicenter of economic development. Today, it is renowned as the melting pot of three distinct cultures: Rarámuri, mestizo, and Mennonite.
It is the producer of the best cheeses. The Mennonites also contribute sausages, jellies, cookies and bread. The cowboys provide beef for discadas and grilled meats; dehydrated foods such as chacales and roasted red chile. The Raramuri collect corn from their maguechis for their thick tortillas and pinole.
Clothing is worn according to the activity: Mennonites who work mostly in the fields wear denim overalls and work boots. Cowboys wear denim pants, boots, a hat and a cotton shirt. The Raramuri remain faithful to their traditions.
